A savings account allows you to earn modest interest on your deposits while a chequing account does not. On the other hand, most chequing accounts provide the option of writing cheques as payment for goods and services. Savings accounts do not provide this convenience. BOB offers several types of savings/chequing accounts to meet your needs for personal and corporate use.

Parent/Legal Guardians can open Junior Savings Accounts on behalf of children aged 0 to 17 years old. Children under the age of 18 wishing to open a Junior Savings account must be accompanied by a Parent/Legal Guardian with signing authority. Valid Identification(s) are required from both individuals (For Example: Passport & NIB or NIB and Driver’s License/Official Birth Certificate) and a minimum deposit of $10.00.

An account becomes inactive after 12 months of inactivity.  

Inactivity is considered the lack of a customer-initiated transaction on an account within a specified period.

An account becomes dormant after 7 years of inactivity.

To reactivate account, visit your home branch with proof of valid identification(s) (Passport & NIB Smart Card or NIB Smart Card and Voter’s Card) and conduct a transaction i.e., make a deposit or withdrawal by relevant signatories

To claim a dormant account, visit your home branch with proof of valid identification(s) (Passport & NIB Smart Card or NIB Smart Card and Voter’s Card) and request such. This request may take a few days as funds from a dormant account are transferred to the Central Bank of the Bahamas.

As rates fluctuate, please visit or call one of our branches for the prevailing rate.

Interest is paid at maturity of term deposits and B$ Investment Certificate.

The maximum amount that can be withdrawn from the ATM is $1500.00 per business day.

There is no limit to the amount of funds that can be deposited via the ATM.  However, please note that the ATM can only accept deposits of up to 50 bills at one time.

Visit any BOB branch with valid identification(s) (Passport & NIB Card or NIB and Driver’s License/Voter’s Card) and report your ATM Card lost. A new ATM Card will then be issued.

Visit the branch that the ATM is attached to and advise a Representative of the incident. The branch will contact you when the Card is available for pick-up. You will need to present a valid verification identification (Passport & NIB Smart Card, or NIB Smart Card & Driver’s license, or most recent Voters Card).

Yes. The minimum job tenure requirement is one year of continuous employment; however, this may vary based on the requested loan. Contact a BOB Branch to speak with a Relationship Officer for further details.

Most loan approvals are made within 48 hours to one week of receipt of all applicable documents. Mortgage applications may take longer.

Once the required terms and conditions are met (loan in good standing with at least four consecutive payments made), all existing BOB personal loan customers may apply for a Top Up. Please reach out to your loan branch or email us at loans@bankbahamas.com

To complete the BOB VISA Prepaid Card application form you’ll only require valid identification(s) – For Example: Passport & NIB or NIB & Driver’s License/Voter’s Card

After completing the application process, the Card should be available for pick up within 7 to 10 business days.

The annual fee for your BOB VISA Prepaid Card is $38.50 (vat included). Your Card is renewed automatically each year once the required funds are present on the Card the month prior to its expiration date. If the required funds are not on the Card, you will need to visit your home branch to renew.

Visit our Customer Service counter at any BOB branch to purchase a BOB Gift Card. To complete the BOB VISA Gift Card application form you’ll only require valid identification(s) – For Example: Passport & NIB or NIB & Driver’s License/Voter’s and a Card Fee payment of $10.00.

Visit our online banking website at www.bankbahamas.com and complete the online banking request application. Once completed, print, and present form at any BOB branch. You can also visit the branch to complete the application. Please note, VALID Identification is required when your application is submitted along with an email address

You can visit any BOB branch to apply for the ENotifier service.

Yes, you can! BOB Customers can make bill payments to various vendors over the counter in-branch or via BOB online banking (AMEX, ALIV, CABLE BAHAMAS, BTC, BPL, GRAND BAHAMA POWER COMPANY, WATER & SEWERAGE… AND MORE).

Select the ‘Payments’ option on your online banking profile, then select ‘Internal Funds Transfer’. Complete the template. Once completed, click the ‘Sign by Pin’ option to submit the request. If you wish to view the status of the transfer, select ‘Payments History’.

The length of this process depends on the receiving bank. It normally clears within 24 – 48hrs. However, if the wire request is received before 12 noon (which is BOB’s current cutoff time), it will generally reach the recipient bank on the same day.

It takes three (3) business days for cheques drawn on local banks and up to six (6) months for cheques drawn on foreign Banks.

To apply for assistance for a worthy cause you may obtain a sponsorship request form from this website or any of our branches. Fill out the form and email to Marketing@bankbahamas.com or address a letter with supporting documents to BOB’s Sponsorship Committee. All requests should be submitted 45 days in advance of your need. For more information on the types of causes BOB supports read our Sponsorship Guidelines on this website.

We’re open 9:30am to 3:00pm on Monday through Thursday and 9:30am to 4:30pm on Friday. Banking hours differ slightly at our branches in Andros,

10:00am – 3:00pm on Monday through Friday.
