BOB “Love that” Child Fundraiser Helps Children’s Homes

Bank of The Bahamas recently presented cheques totaling more than $5,000 to three children’s homes including the Ranfurly Home for Children, The Elizabeth Estates Children’s Home and The Children’s Emergency Hostel. The donated funds were the total proceeds from BOB’s Third Annual “Love that Child” Dance and Musical Production which brought together dancers from Philadelphia to perform with young local talent from schools and dance programmes in Nassau. This year’s production held on January 20th at the Rainforest Theatre featured more than 150 performers including the Philadelphia 76ers pre-pro dance team and musician Damien Davis, a former child resident of Ranfurly and composer of the “Love that Child” song.

Vaughn Delaney Deputy Managing Director, Bank of The Bahamas said BOB is extremely pleased and delighted to support the “ tremendous work” the three children’s homes are doing to give less advantaged children a better start in life.  He noted that the “Love That Child” production has grown from being just a beautiful original song into a movement.

“It’s really quite a good feeling as a corporate citizen to be able to go there and see so many people there supporting that event and knowing that it’s all for a good cause. And having been there, myself, looking around at the young children and seeing them so inspired and delighted to participate or enjoy the show knowing that they are helping other children…it’s really a very positive message that we would like to send,” Mr. Delaney said.

This year’s “Love that Child” cast and behind the scenes team included Eurythmics Dance Studio, Virtue Dance Academy, Bahamas Dance Theatre, The Meridian School, Roger J, Funky D, Epic, Veronica Bishop, Damien Davis, Julien Believe, Roderick Johnson, A Touch of Class Dance Studio, Chelsea’s Kids, co-producer Karen Rawlings and the Philly Connection, Debbie Appaluchi and the Philadelphia 76ers Pre-Pro Dance Team, The Ranfurly Home, The Wyndham Nassau Resort, Diane Philips and Associates and BOB staff volunteers.
